Teaming up with startup Edge, Hardline Design developed a series of products. The design reflected the quality of the iPhone by using by higher quality materials than plastic. Inspired by the 1970 Modulo concept car, different concepts were developed.

Design research of current workflow and other relevant elements that influenced the design process.

Prototyping different manufacturing techniques revealed hard aluminum extrusions as the most cost effective, a TPU insert kept the phone in place without risk of scratches, and close collaboration with manufacturers ensured design intent was retained.

User interface design inspiration using a circle and not digits to aid visual communication across the lab environment

Design theme sketches and physical mockups made from foam illustrated different design directions and sizes.

Design refinement renders of CAD models. The final design used elements from several proposals.

Visualizing user interface. Main function of device is communicating status over preset set timeframe.

CAD model renders, Class-A surfaces made in Alias rendered in Vred to illustrate final design and details.
