Teaming up with startup Edge, Hardline Design developed a series of products. The design reflected the quality of the iPhone by using by higher quality materials than plastic. Inspired by the 1970 Modulo concept car, different concepts were developed.
Prototyping different manufacturing techniques revealed hard aluminum extrusions as the most cost effective, a TPU insert kept the phone in place without risk of scratches, and close collaboration with manufacturers ensured design intent was retained.
